About the Work

We have re-branded Kayanoya, established in 1893 and has since been making “shoyu” (soy sauce) and is now also known for its “dashi” (soup stock). It is a brand that is very much loved nationwide because of its additive-free, perfume-free fabrication and hassle-free creation of authentic taste. The circular logo portrays how soup stock or soy sauce drips deliciously. Also, it represents a circle called “ensō” drawn using a writing brush in the world of “Zen”. An “ensō” drawn by a Zen monk expresses enlightenment, truth and the world in a shape of circle, and it is said to be a window that reflects one’s heart. We have created this design for Kayanoya, a shop that endlessly pursues the world-class flavor of Japan. In 2013, Kayanoya opened its new outlet in Nihonbashi where the Japanese traditions are still alive, and it has become a very popular brand since.
