About the Work

Prague in the Czech Republic is an oasis of openness and tolerance in the former Eastern Bloc. Unfortunately, for many other people around the world, being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is either illegal or these people face daily discrimination and persecution. Prague Pride 2014 wanted to break down these barriers, fight this bigotry and unite all LGBT people regardless of geography, race or politics. LGBT Avatars: an encrypted social network, which allowed LGBT people from repressed countries to literally take part by connecting one to one with people actually attending the parade. 1,230 people shared their live experiences, through chat, photos and videos, allowing people from 22 countries worldwide to witness, experience and be part of pride first hand for the first time, all thanks to their LGBTAvatars.
