About the Work
How do you attract new audiences to foreign films in over 60 languages they don’t understand, starring people they don’t know, in films they’ve never heard of, all on a small budget? We all feel the same basic emotions, fear, anger, surprise, disgust, sadness and happiness. And no matter where you are from you don’t just see a film, you feel it. So to promote the Melbourne International Film Festival we created movie trailers that spoke every language. The Emotional Trailers. Using the universal language of emotion we created a custom made Emotion Simulator to experience the emotional journey of every film at the festival. Emotional data from film critics, fed into facial electrodes, allowed audience members to feel 6 key human emotions. The live filmed experience was turned into Emotional Trailers that viewers could book tickets directly from. Resulting in the highest ever-sales results in the festivals history.
