About the Work
Research shows that children start taking in their parents’ driving habits at a much earlier age than previously thought. And while many parents go to great lengths to set good examples outside of the car, many revert to pre-parenting habits behind the wheel. This spot aims to remind parents that how they drive affects how their kids will drive. As the spot begins, we see a tight shot of a boy’s face, but then pan out to reveal that he has several strings attached to him. He appears to be driving an imaginary car. Some of his driving habits are normal, but a few are quite dangerous, like checking an imaginary cell phone and yelling at another driver. Finally, we zoom out to see that his strings are attached to a father in the front seat. We are then left with the words “What kind of driver are you raising?”
