About the Work

Usain Bolt is one of the great athletes of all time, but how well do people really know him? After all, his biggest stage takes place for just over nine seconds every four years. So, basically, people only know that he’s fast and likes to joke around. However, they’re not aware of the deeper story and the important relationship between those two characteristics. So we told the story about what really drives Usain Bolt and how a pre-race moment with his mother changed the course of his career. Across social platforms, we created teasers and an animated online film (including one of the first short films designed entirely for Snapchat) that revealed that his joyful attitude is actually his secret weapon.
