About the Work
The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence is fighting to reduce gun violence though common-sense gun legislation. Teddy bear manufacturers are required to follow strict safety regulations—unless that teddy bear is a gun. Introducing Teddy Gun, created to shine light on the lack of common-sense gun regulations. Teddy Gun was developed to ignite conversation and put pressure on Congress. At the center of our campaign was a striking traveling installation, appearing in places near senators and representatives in Illinois and Washington D.C. Direct from the experience, people could use our social tool and tweet directly at their congressmen, putting pressure on their exact legislators. And if congressmen missed it, we delivered Teddy Gun directly to their desks. An introductory film, which targeted those who support our case, brought this to life online, in social media and with PR. This was followed by a documentary-film to further mobilize our community of supporters.
