About the Work

THE CASE: In El Salvador any form of abortion is considered murder, and Teodora Vasquez was sentenced to 30 years in prison after a stillbirth. She had already been in prison for 10 years. On Dec 4 her case was going to be reviewed. The Challenge: Media's attention were elsewhere. And without the pressure from the media, Teodora would likely end up back in jail. To create massive attention, we therefor decided to turn people into media - more spesefic: radio stations. How? In 2017 Norway was the first country in the world to shut down its FM-network. On Dec 4 we hijacked the shutdown FM-network to broadcast a distress signal. Our FM-signal could only reach 8 km radius. That's why we picked up our FM-signal in different LIVE STREAMs, and asked people to turn their Facebook or Twitter into radio antennas. Watch case film.
