About the Work

There are many myths and misconceptions about KFC’s food. Some people think it’s frozen and reheated. Others think it’s not even real chicken. The reality is that KFC only uses chicken raised on U.S. farms, and KFC’s famous Original Recipe chicken is freshly hand-prepared by trained cooks in store every day. It’s one of KFC’s biggest differentiators, but not enough people know about it. This process is what Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC, called “the Hard Way.” Unfortunately, the 25-minute process doesn’t exactly fit into a 30-second commercial. Even we didn’t realize how hard the process really is until we made chicken ourselves in a KFC kitchen. How could we share this hands-on process with consumers? Virtual reality. We created the Hard Way, a VR training game/escape room, so that consumers and employees alike could learn first hand how much hard work goes into making Kentucky Fried Chicken.
