About the Work
L’Heptaméron was published in 1919 as a collaboration between Édouard Nignon and seven French writers. Nignon, referred to the father of modern cuisine, supplemented each novel with a set menu amounting to over 600 recipes. The book were originally printed in 150 copies and is a rare collectors item. In 2018 Firenze based company Nunchi bought the manuscript and decided to reinterpret the original book in a limited edition of 777 copies aimed for collectors. The ambition was to create a unique experience – the allover handmade facsimile is wrapped in a Japanese boro-quilt, encased in a beechwood box from Italian architect Andrea Branzi and finally enclosed in a washi-paper box, individually calligraphed. The main object is a well-crafted facsimile of the original book, involving some of the best craftsmen from around the world. The blue appendix, La Dive Cocagne, is an accompanying publication with insights into the creation of L’Heptaméron.
