About the Work
We brought this idea to life by emulating the POV of a plane taking off from taxi to launch. There was a huge element of technical difficulty in pulling this off. Because our aim was to create a seamless “runway” from start to finish, the lines that define the “runway” of each scene had to line up perfectly. Determining camera speed and height became a complicated mathematical exercise because our runways had wildly different widths and lengths. Complicating matters was the fact that we needed a speed ramp to emulate a plane taking off, so each scene gets progressively faster. Complicating matters further were the people and items in each scene that affect the perceived camera speed. Because we had to be so precise with the camera height and speed, we had to know the order of each scene (the edit) upfront before we shot.
