About the Work
YOU-turn is a GPS based app designed to support people who struggle with problem gambling and are enrolled in the Self-Exclusion program by helping them stay out of casinos (The self-exclusion program is a voluntary program for gamblers actively trying to quit gambling. When you are in the program, you are not allowed to enter casinos in Ontario). It reaches users as they’re travelling. It uses a phone’s native GPS and accelerometer to determine if a user is headed to a casino. As players proceed to the casino, YOU-turn plays personalized, pre-recorded support messages at each pre-mapped, geo-fenced trigger point, ultimately sending a text message to their sponsor to get them the support they need.
