About the Work
One thing people love about HBO shows is that they often feel more true to life and vital than the programming on conventional networks. That’s because, often, the stories are drawn from real life. HBO’s ongoing content series, HBO Backstories, brought this truth to life in fun fashion. Backstories are animated shorts––the stories behind the HBO stories. Each uniquely animated episode centers around a creator’s real-life experience: one that informed characters, moments, or storylines. Showcasing a variety of talent, the episodes have ranged from David Benioff and Dan Weiss (Game of Thrones) to Alec Berg (Barry) to Yvonne Orji (Insecure). The shorts appear on the network and online.
