About the Work
Overpopulation and an unprecedented rise in residential developments has made privacy scarce in major U.S. cities. Leading to exposed windows, and exposed lives. To WhatsApp, privacy is everything. With proprietary end-to-end encryption, interlocking layers of protection and countless other privacy measures, no other messaging application is doing it quite like they do.
So to show that WhatsApp means business when it comes to privacy, we tackled a privacy concern offline–– taking to exposed windows in overpopulated cities to spread our message.
Introducing: The Privacy Swap. An anything-but-shady deal, trading privacy for publicity. On the inside, our shades functioned as art for residents’ homes. On the outside, they boasted WhatsApp’s privacy measures as branded billboards. We even installed our shades in heavily-photographed homes and businesses like the ones in Seinfeld, New Girl and Full House.
The Privacy Swap gave privacy to the people, and created a brand new Out of Home medium for WhatsApp. Reaching far beyond neighbors eyes and bringing out of home, in the home.
