About the Work
Coke Studio has always been a platform where musicians from different genres come together to collab and create original music tracks for their fans. To celebrate this spirit of collisions, for Season 7 in the Philippines, Coke Studio transformed the analog canvas of a vinyl, a historically audio medium, into a multi-sensorial audio-visual one. So fans could listen to their favourite tracks while watching the magic of the Video Vinyl come alive.
Using the Zoetrope technique, one of the oldest styles of animation, these video vinyls add a whole new layer of entertainment to the tracks. Combining audio with video.
Every vinyl features one song from Season 7, which is a collaboration of multiple Filipino musicians coming together. And has different layers, representing the different artists that contributed to the track.
Working with illustrators Vanilla Chi, Rakhmat Jaka, Mathieu Labrecque, the vinyls have been riddled with easter eggs that only authentic music fans of the artists would be able to spot and appreciate.
Unboxed by the artists themselves, these limited edition video vinyls were distributed to music publishers, radio DJs and ardent fans of Coke studio’s musicians.
