About the Work
Theo’s Story is a short film that shows the butterfly effect of seemingly ordinary online hate snowball into something dangerous in real life.
We follow a young man’s coming out journey closely.
Meet Theo, a regular guy, living a usual content life in the suburbs. But something is amiss.
One day, he decides to come out online. What follows is an emotional rollercoaster of a story - of what seems like surprise, love, laughter but is indeed discreetly online hate.
The film unearths various nuances of online hate, ranging from mockery, to catfishing, to bullying, to downright bigotry and oppression. It goes on to show the effect of each of these on an individual.
It ends on a heartbreaking scene, taking the viewer on a gut-wrenching journey – Theo, our protagonist, breaking down and on the verge of giving up.
