Background

The idea was pretty simple really — to show an emotional journey wrapped inside a literal one. It’s a heartfelt family story set around the holidays, following someone travelling home and all the feelings that come with that — the nostalgia, the tension, the love, the stuff that’s left unsaid.
It’s not big or flashy. It lives in the small moments — looks across a table, quiet pauses, little gestures that say more than dialogue ever could. The story gently builds as the journey unfolds, and by the time we land, there’s a sense of release and reconnection that feels earned rather than forced.
All of it sits against this beautifully haunting track from James Blake. His voice and that sparse production just carry this weight to them, it's vulnerable but powerful and it does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting without ever feeling over the top. It just feels honest.

Creative Idea

The film follows a young woman waiting just minutes for her Uber at the airport before heading to see her father for the holidays. Through the window of her ride, the familiar streets of her suburban hometown have her reminiscing on her relationship with her father and the years she spent growing up there. As she draws closer, it becomes clear that their last encounter ended in hurt, and this trip means far more to her than simply coming home for the holiday.

Insights & Strategy

Created by agency Mother and directed by MJZ'sMichael Spiccia, the film shows the important role Uber can play in bringing families together over the Christmas period.

Execution

Blake’s vocal tone likely transforms “Landslide” from reflective nostalgia into something more intimate and exposed. The space between phrases becomes as important as the notes themselves.

its minimal arrangement leaves room for the visuals to remain central, supporting rather than overpowering them. In this context, the track becomes atmospheric rather than dominant, shaping mood subtly while allowing the narrative imagery to carry the primary meaning
