The Young Ones competition is one of the most acclaimed advertising, interactive and design student competitions. It has a tradition of excellence dating back to 1986.
The fast fashion industry has been polluting our natural landscapes with dyes and toxic micro-fibers. Patagonia has been trying to dissuade people from throwing away their old clothing in an attempt to stop this vicious cycle. Unfortunately, despite the company’s best efforts, many people are still discarding their clothes, believing that once it has been thrown away, it is not their problem anymore.
It might not be their problem once they’ve discarded their old clothes, but it is their responsibility. These posters are attempts at making the audience take note of the normalization of ‘dump’ landscapes because throwing away their clothes does not solve the problem – It adds to it.
