Zebra is a research group from Murcia focused on studying rare human diseases using the zebrafish model, which shares 70% of its genome with humans. Its objectives have been to understand the importance of zebrafish in biomedical research and correct dissemination errors to gain greater institutional and public support.

The visual concept is structured around the essence of the aquatic environment where the zebrafish lives. Its organic fluidity has been explored as a structuring principle, generating a visual language that adapts to different formats without losing coherence.

Based on this premise, a modular graphic system was designed, applicable in both print and digital environments. This system flows through the compositional grid, the layout of texts and images, and the use of graphic and infographic resources. The graphic structure is based on the superposition and rotation of the golden ratio, which is present in all living things and has a structural foundation that is both circular and grid-based. This results in a new, versatile grid that allows for both rectilinear and circular compositions. Thus, the identity is not constructed solely through imagery but also through the organization of content, establishing a visual relationship between information and form.

Beyond representing the fluidity of the aquatic environment, the laboratory’s identity becomes a living ecosystem, with an evolving graphic language.

More than just building a visual identity, this project has been an exercise in exploring how design can transform the perception of science. The experimentation with fluidity and the organic nature of the aquatic medium aims to highlight an intangible theme: research as a human, dynamic, and evolving process.

In this way, the project translates scientific complexity into an accessible language while reconfiguring the relationship between science and society through a visual experience that breaks conventional codes.
