For generations, aspiring filmmakers have been held back by the high cost of film school, limited access to equipment, and an industry where only 1 in 5,000 graduates ever become a director. With Gemini, we set out to democratize filmmaking. “Take One” introduces a new kind of festival—one where anyone can create and share films using AI-powered tools that handle lighting, environments, and production. For the first time, Will Smith’s AI-enabled IP is opened to the public, allowing creators to cast him in their own sci-fi, horror, or comedy films. Winning entries are screened at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre, while partnerships with leading writers and directors provide free educational access normally locked behind expensive tuition. By combining Hollywood, AI, and open creativity, “Take One” empowers a new generation to learn, make, and publish films on their own terms.
