About the Work

IBM has sponsored and provided IT solutions for the Wimbledon Tennis Championship for the last 20 years. This year they asked us if we could use their sponsorship to demonstrate how predictive analysis can give businesses a competitive advantage. We said, huh? But then we thought what if we used IBM?s actual business forecasting tools to analyse player data? So we looked at every match from the last 5 years and identified the keys to each player?s success. We then used these keys to make real time predictions on whether they would win or lose. The upshot? We accurately predicted results across the tournament with a 93.8% success rate. Since we weren?t allowed to use this information to gamble we used it to show captains of industry what predictive analysis might do for their business. We have no regrets. None.
