About the Work

The brief was to remind motorists to carefully monitor their driving behaviour over the long weekend of Easter as police would be popping up when and where they're least expected. Our job was to combat the "No-one will catch me" attitude and the casual holiday mindset that can lead to dangerous driving. Finally and most importantly, we wanted to keep the W.A. road toll down over the Easter long weekend period. The solution was we high jacked live-to-air songs on radio stations and inserted a speech from a genuine policeman to remind drivers "This long weekend we will be popping up where you least expect us." The interruption of live music (occurring well into the song; by which time the listener was engrossed in the melody ) was a first for Australian commercial radio
