About the Work
The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence is fighting to reduce gun violence though common-sense gun legislation. Teddy bear manufacturers are required to follow strict safety regulations—unless that teddy bear is a gun. Introducing Teddy Gun, created to shine a light on the lack of common sense gun regulations. We started with a simple and striking visual of the Teddy Gun that was used across all of our touchpoints. An introductory film, which targeted those who support our case, brought this issue to life online, in social, and with PR. This was followed by a documentary film to further mobilize our community of supporters. Posters and our travelling exhibit, appearing in places near congressmen, continued to provoke and ignite conversation. In every form of communication, we led people to TeddyGun.com. There, a social tool allowed you to tweet directly to your senator and representative, putting pressure on your exact legislators. Â
