About the Work

Foxtel held an immersive, 2,000 square metre, Westeros-style cemetery event in one of Sydney’s most popular public parks, honouring characters who died in ‘Game of Thrones’. The graveyard, featuring the tombs of more than 34 notorious characters, included two giant one-tonne mausoleums and the head of the boy-King, Joffrey. Each grave was layered in reference to their life and death. They also featured the season and episode the character died, and using Foxtel’s mobile streaming service fans could watch that moment over again. Tens of thousands of people came, with these once fictional characters becoming something much more real.
