About the Work
The Dissolving Bottle began by developing an original mold design for 3D printing. It went through several iterations to incorporate readable headlines to be carved into the small surface area. In the process, an original Dissolving Font was also developed to fit the design. After the mold was finalized, various shampoo formulas, from an FDA-approved supplier were tested in the mold. Some colors made the font less readable than others. This required the team to test several formulations to find the best colors for the design. After the molding process, details were added to further mimic the look of travel shampoos. These design prototypes were then sent out to hand-picked resorts and influencers for testing. With their feedback, we are able to continue to improve our 3D mold design and formulation, to ready it for open-source use in the market.
