Members of the LGBTQ+ community face unique challenges, and micro aggressions that are largely unseen by the rest of us. They struggle to fully reveal their true selves. P&G is committed to driving LGBTQ+ acceptance and support through the accurate and authentic representation of the community. By highlighting insights and human truths, we are able to drive more acceptance for LGBTQ+ people. When this happens, economies grow, communities are healthier, businesses thrive, and the world is a better place for everyone. “The Pause” is giving a name to the hesitation that members of the LGBTQ+ community have to face multiple times a day. It calls out the struggle of how much of themselves they can reveal to those around them. In the film, we start a conversation with real people from the LGBTQ+ community and ask them to talk about their experience with The Pause: when it happens, why it happens, and how it would feel if it didn’t exist. Their testimonials are revealing and highlight how members of the community have to “come out” several times a day. They explain how simple things, most of us take for granted, like meeting someone new, speaking up, and demonstrating affection, turn into something extremely challenging for fear of judgment, and even aggressive reactions. The film encourages people outside of the community to notice, reflect and realize how their reactions can make a difference when they lead with love.
