About the Work

Whudafxup with labeling people? Why are we asking? Because back in the 1980s, tobacco companies labeled African Americans as ìless educated, prefer malt liquor and have problems with their own self esteem.î So, assuming that this must be true because it was written in a tobacco company document, Derrick arranged an interview with African American movie star Nick Cannon. His goal? Find out how Nick's problems with self-esteem and his malt-liquor use impact his ability to cope with the rigors of his job and the trappings of stardom.
