About the Event

Get your portfolio in shape before the end of the year. Treat yourself to a refresh, revamp, or a totally new portfolio so you can apply to that internship you have been eyeing, that job opening you are considering, or bring your "book" to the next level. If you are not there yet, come to learn where to start and how to put it together. 

Join us on Sat. 11/4 from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM pm at Miami Ad School. We have workshops, presentations, and one-on-one reviews. You will spend 15 minutes with several local professionals - creative directors, account planners, strategists, media planners, social media strategists, PR, copywriters, recruiters - you get the idea. Show them your best work or ask for their advice. Gain insights you can apply to make your portfolio work for you. Bring your fully-charged laptop/tablet and your best attitude. BREAKFAST WILL BE PROVIDED.

ANGEL Acevedo

Designer at ACEVEDO Aesthetics Co.

Angel Acevedo is a seasoned Graphic Designer from Puerto Rico based in Miami. He is currently running ACEVEDO Aesthetics Co. with his partner & spouse Karielys Acevedo after recent leadership roles in Spotify and Royal Caribbean. Creator of notable projects such as God is a designer®, FilmeApp™, and the Made In House Podcast. He volunteers as board member of The WOW Center and served as a design lead at VOUS Church.

JOSE BENITEZ

COO and Digital Director at Arbol

Jose is a professional with broad experience in the fields of digital media and advertising, marketing, media planning, interactive communication and digital production. Currently COO and Digital Director at Arbol, his specialties include content production, process optimization, structure development, branding, eCommerce, ROI strategy, mobile marketing and UX/UI. He’s also a Google and Facebook certified expert, is a teacher in various universities and advertising associations and won a Silver Effie award in the e-commerce category.

MATIAS CACHIQUIS

Sr. Art Director at GUT Miami

Matias Cachiquis is an award-winning creative and a graduate of FIU & Miami Ad School Master’s Program, currently serving as Senior Art Director at GUT Miami. He’s worked on a number of award-winning campaigns and activations for multiple global brands throughout his career, including Activision-Blizzard’s Call of Duty, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Sixt, Verizon, among many others.

JOAO CORAZZA

Art Director at David Miami

João Corazza a brazilian Art Director since 2015, now working as Associate Creative Directors at DAVID Miami. I worked as ACD at the São Paulo-based agency Africa during 4 years and, previously, at Crispin Porter + Bogusky Brazil. Last year entered the Top 10 Art Director ranking on Cannes Creativity Report. In the last two years I've had award-winning campaigns including Cannes Lions, Clio Sports, Effie, D&AD, One Show and El Ojo.

Paul DEMONTPELLIER

Senior Copywriter at Lenovo

Paul DeMontpellier is a MAD/FIU alum who got his start working on brands like Heinz, Fruit of the Loom and Domino’s for agencies like Crispin Porter+Bogusky. He’s now a Senior Copywriter for Lenovo’s in-house agency where he’s helped them go from a small upstart, to one of the most award winning in-house agencies in the world. Paul DeMontpellier loves talking about himself in the third person so much, that Paul DeMontpellier, Paul DeMontpellier.

Leo Ferrari

Senior Multicultural Creative at RepublicaHavas

Leo has over 15 years of experience in the advertising industry. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina he now works at Republica Havas Miami. He has extensive regional experience creating and executing campaigns for global brands, and localizing content for all South American and Caribbean markets. An awarded professional with integrated campaigns celebrated at several international festivals, including Cannes Lions, Clio Health, Effie, D&AD, LIA, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, FIAP, El Sol, and ECHO Latam, among others.

Alfredo serves as the CEO of Big Toys, a Creative Agency with offices in Spain and the USA, helping brands like Netflix, Nike, TikTok, and Amazon Prime exceed corporate objectives through meaningful strategic campaigns. Before, he worked for over 12 years for brands like MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and Paramount. He has been profoundly committed to organizational growth, first as Marketing Director for Nickelodeon in Spain and then as Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for all Viacom brands in Latin America while being responsible for Nickelodeon's CSR efforts worldwide.

GUSTAVO GONZALEZ

My long career at a major international television news network, coupled with more than 25 years of experience in the United States as a journalist, Emmy ® Award-winning producer, and copywriter, allows me to handle content for different audiences and on different topics.
As a multicultural content generator, I combine creativity with the analytical skills of a journalist to consolidate complex briefs into clear executions and headline-grabbing projects. My multidisciplinary experience allows me to understand the core needs of different brands and apply user-centered strategic language to evoke images and inspire experiences.

Mikel Ortega

Creative Director at Big Toys

From trainee to creative director in less than 10 years, and before turning 30. Trained as a graphic designer and transitioned into an art director. Worked for over 10 years with independent and multinational creative agencies such as Zapping, HAVAS Fullsix, CHINA, and Peanuts&Monkeys, receiving recognition for their work at national and international festivals. The youngest member of the board of directors at the "Club de Creativos de España (cdec)." Co-founder and Creative Director of Big Toys. And now, also works as an esteemed university professor. Has a passion for GIFs and stickers.

Beatriz Pardo

Art Director at RepublicaHavas

Beatriz Pardo is an Art Director who finds joy in creating alluring, comedic, and daring concepts. At the intersection of thoughtful campaigns and intentional visuals, her work draws inspiration from the tropics, psychology, music, and Miami, her honorary home and creative playing field.

Albena Petrus

Professor (presenter)

Albena is a multicultural art director who has worked on international accounts for agencies in the US, Cuba, and Bulgaria. Being a data-driven creative, she has developed brand identities and advertising campaigns for corporations all over the world that is inspired by her curiosity about people and their interaction with others. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses for Florida International University's School of Communication and is the founder of Portfolio Maven, a creative portfolio consultancy service. She currently serves as The One Club Miami's co-president.

JOANA PLAUTZ

Creative Director at David Miami

I’m Joana, a Creative Director at David Miami, where I have been working since 2020.In my three years here, I have had the privilege to work on campaigns for brands like Corona, Burger King, Halls and Budweiser. I also worked on pitches for Actimel and Activia US and Activia Global, bringing new clients to the agency.Before working in Miami, I was already part of the David team in São Paulo. And for 4 years I worked for the local Burger King client, Neston and Coca-Cola.I started working for David after a brief time in MullenLowe São Paulo and a 6 year period in Wunderman Lisbon, where I had a great time living abroad and traveling through Europe as much as I could.I started my career over 15 years ago in my hometown, Rio de Janeiro, as a Graphic Designer and use what I learned during this time to craft my daily work in advertising.

BRUNO REIS

Copywriter at David Miami

I’m Bruno Reis, a Brazilian copywriter working as Associate Creative Director. I joined the David Miami team in March 2023 - a place I'm very proud to work - and moved here in August. Which means that I’m still learning how to deal with this weather and with so many Romero Britto sculptures. Before that, I spent 4 years at the Africa agency working with brands such as Budweiser, Heinz and Brahma beer - where we won the brand's first Gold Lion. I've also worked at Crispin Porter + Bogusky Brazil and other agencies. Since 2016 I've been working with Art Director João Corazza as a duo, achieving some important awards such as Cannes Lions, Clio Sports, Effie, D&AD, One Show - which all of these my mom still has no idea what they're for.

LUIS FELIPE RIOS

Copywriter at The Community

Luis Felipe Rios is currently a copywriter at the community working with clients like Captain Morgan, Smirnoff, Mondelez and others. Prior to the community, Luis worked at JWT and VMLY&R. His work has been recognized by international festivals including Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, ANDY Awards, One Show, and ADC, among others. Luis studied communications science at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Peru) and digital creativity and strategy at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). He is currently based in Miami and outside of work, he enjoys playing basketball, running, and going out with his Nikon camera to photograph the streets.

Christian, a third-generation entrepreneur, is the Founder and CEO of Commonwell, a dynamic communications consultancy based in Los Angeles and Miami. The company focuses on Social Responsibility, Marketing Communications, and Content. He has been at the helm of some exciting and transformative projects from the world's most iconic brands, from returning the Rams to LA, to the deployment of next-generation technology across California to amplifying the Sustainable Development Goals in South Florida. Christian leverages his talents and relationships to maximize clients’ efforts.

I'm a Visual Designer with a diverse background in working with different agencies like M8, Salvo, HMG, Mitu, and more. As an independent web designer, I've had the privilege of collaborating on different digital campaigns with renowned brands, including McDonald's, Silversea Cruise, General Mills, Volvo, Avocados from Mexico and many others.

I’m a Creative Director, based in Miami, with more than 14 year’s experience who worked for Hispanic, US market and global brands.
Throughout my career I worked for brands like Volkswagen, Netflix, Verizon, DirecTV, Movistar, Procter and Gamble, Paramount Pictures, among others. My work has been awarded in several festivals such as Cannes, Clio, Effie, Fiap, Sol, Wave, Diente (Círculo de Creativos Argentinos), Lápiz de Oro, El Ojo de Iberoamérica y la Copa de Iberoamérica. But most important, still hunger to do great stuff and have fun while doing it.

David Verjano

Head of Design at Beyond The Agency

David Verjano is a Miami native with a with a passion for supporting the city's creative culture. David is Partner & Head of Design at Beyond The Agency, a creative e-commerce studio focused on launching and scaling CPG brands. He specializes in creating brand identities, designing compelling digital experiences and executing creative marketing campaigns. Over the past 10 years, David has worked with global clients like Seedlip, Intelligentsia, and Don Papa Rum, while also nurturing local Miami brands like Diced, PINCHO, and Lincoln’s Beard Brewing. He is the host of CreativeMornings Miami, a global monthly lecture series, and Step Into the Sandbox, a podcast series interviewing multidisciplinary creatives in Miami.
