VANESSA AMARAL
Associate Strategy Director at DavidVanessa is an Associate Strategy Director at DAVID Miami. She has worked on multiple national and global campaigns for brands such as Burger King, Sour Patch Kids, Coca-Cola, and Dove, and has been recognized with over 50 international awards, including a Global Grand Effie and 5 Gold Effie Awards, and a Titanium and three Grand Prix Lions at Cannes.
Dawn Astley (presenter)
Recruitment Director at Publicis, North AmericaAn industry veteran with an extensive background in integrated marketing, brand development and people operations, Dawn Astley has spent her career in roles on both the agency and client sides, including over a decade at CP+B where she served as its VP/Director of Quality of Life and five years at GUT as Head of Talent.
Dawn has a BS in Communications / Advertising from Florida State University and is a certified Senior Human Resources Professional. One of the great loves of her career was teaching the Get A Job class at Miami Ad School for two years.
Alex "Burnie" Burnard
Founder/Creative Director at Sun&Sons™Burnie started as a graphic designer at Polo Ralph Lauren working on Polo Sport and RRL. Two years later he moved to Miami when he landed a job as an Art Director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. He was an integral part of it being named Agency of the Year 9 times and Ad Age's Worldwide Agency of the Decade in 2010. While at CP+B, he created the And1 Mixtape series, helped launch MINI in North America, and launched Coke Zero (their first successful launch since Diet Coke). His work for the truth brand (an anti-tobacco campaign) was named one of the top 20 campaigns of this century. Burnie's last role at CP+B was as Chief Innovation Officer. In 2014, Burnie co-founded Sun&Sons, a Miami-based creative studio that helps non-digital start-ups get a footing in culture.
MATIAS CACHIQUIS
Sr. Art Director at GUT MiamiMatias Cachiquis is an award-winning creative and a graduate of FIU & Miami Ad School Master’s Program, currently serving as Senior Art Director at GUT Miami. He’s worked on a number of award-winning campaigns and activations for multiple global brands throughout his career, including Activision-Blizzard’s Call of Duty, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Sixt, Verizon, among many others.
Matias Candia
Group Strategy Director at GUTNative from Argentina, Matías is a Group Strategy Director at GUT Miami. He's worked at agencies like Wieden+Kennedy, DAVID and ALMA; and clients such as Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Google Pixel, Burger King, Budweiser, Corona, Michelob Ultra, Heinz, Coca-Cola, DoorDash, Turkish Airlines, among others. He pushes brands to be culturally relevant and has helped win over a hundred international awards, including multiple Grand Prix at Cannes, Clios, D&AD, One Show, Effies, and WARC.
Carolina del Busto
Copywriter at Macias CreativeCarolina was born and raised in Miami and is a proud Cuban-American whose favorite language is Spanglish. She has been writing professionally for over a decade (and unprofessionally for over three decades). She is a journalist and copywriter. Her work has appeared in Miami New Times, Miami Herald, Artburst, on a Metromover car, and occasionally on a billboard or television screen. Her work has been acclaimed locally (her mom is a big fan) and nationally (in 2023 her radio script titled “Leave it Up to Cantor” took home first place at the ANA Multicultural Awards for client General Mills and Totino’s Pizza Rolls). Carolina nurtured her love of words at Boston College before moving back home under the Miami sun. She has been working as a multicultural copywriter at Macías Creative since 2022.
Paul DEMONTPELLIER
Senior Copywriter at LenovoPaul DeMontpellier is a MAD/FIU alum who got his start working on brands like Heinz, Fruit of the Loom and Domino’s for agencies like Crispin Porter+Bogusky. He’s now a Senior Copywriter for Lenovo’s in-house agency where he’s helped them go from a small upstart, to one of the most award winning in-house agencies in the world. Paul DeMontpellier loves talking about himself in the third person so much, that Paul DeMontpellier, Paul DeMontpellier.
LEO FERRARI
Multicultural CreativeCreative professional with +15 years of experience in the advertising industry. Born and raised in Argentina, now an award-winning Copywriter working in the U.S. He has extensive regional experience creating and executing campaigns for global brands, and localizing content for all South American and Caribbean markets. An awarded professional with integrated campaigns celebrated at several international festivals, including Cannes Lions, Clio Health, Effie, D&AD, LIA, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, FIAP, El Sol, and ECHO Latam, among others.
Caio Fortes
Associate Creative Director at MADCaio is a Brazilian Creative with over 13 years of experience, having worked among the biggest advertising agencies in Latin America, like Publicis, Ogilvy, and Y&R. Awarded by The One Club, El Ojo, Webby Awards, and many more, Caio has created global and local campaigns for Dove, Verizon, Motorola, Nestlé, Spirit, Heineken, LG, Honda, several Unilever brands, and more.
Daniel Gongora
Art DirectorDaniel is a creative powerhouse who knows how to build brands from the ground up. He's got a knack for turning ideas into stunning visuals that resonate with audiences. He has a deep understanding of the visual language that drives brand recognition and growth. Whether he's launching a brand in a single market or expanding into new territories, he brings a strategic and creative approach to every project.
Amy Lawson
CEO at LAWSON+BOLECEKAmy is the founder and CEO of LAWSON + BOLECEK, an independent creative agency that works with clients like Nike, Google, PayPal and Heineken. Prior to this, she led strategy at Saatchi & Saatchi New York, and was a consultant at Seed, an experience design company created by the strategist of the Truth Campaign at Crispin Porter + Bogusky. Amy started off in marketing at Bacardi, and went to the Miami Ad School's account planning program, where she was Top Dog. She believes that creativity solves all known problems.
MARS MAHONEY
Brand + Creative StrategistMars is passionate about working with brands that reflect the world we live in, lend a timely point of view, and tackle problems designed to inspire and connect with audiences. As a strategist, there isn't a singular path to being strategic. When describing his approach, he likes to think of it as Gumbo — a variety of fundamental necessities mixed in with unexpected twists to inspire effective creativity. He superconnects the gap that exists between brands and humans and always pushing for the edge.
Andreas Mingorance
Chief Creative Officer at Formula and Luminary VisualsAndreas is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Formula, a Miami-based creative agency specializing in luxury real estate developments and brands. In his time there, he has spearheaded brand design, strategy, and content for luxury pre construction in Coconut Grove, and built out the regional content studio for Compass, America's largest real estate brokerage. When not managing creative operations at Formula, he also serves as the Chief Creative Officer at Luminary Visuals, one of Miami's foremost production companies with a clientele that includes Nike, Hilton, Zumba, Britto, and many other world-class brands.
Orianna Montenegro
Art Director at Macias CreativeOrianna is a Venezuelan-born multidisciplinary creative specializing in art and design. She has been in the advertising industry for almost a decade and has been working at Macías Creative since 2017. She serves at the agency’s Art Director overseeing brands within the General Mills portfolio (including Cheerios, Yoplait, Nature Valley, Totino’s Pizza Rolls, and others), and is in charge of clients like Christopher Columbus High School. Orianna’s expertise ranges and incudes branding, shopper marketing, and managing and concepting large-scale activations. In addition to her work in advertising, Orianna is a practicing abstract and mixed media artist and is currently represented by Galeria AZUR.
Pedro Paiva
Director of Business Development at Creative Leads/PPAPedro is a seasoned advertising strategist with a distinguished career in top agencies, including AlmapBBDO, Dentsu Digital Code, and MRM//McCann. Throughout his career, he has led strategic planning and campaign initiatives for high-profile clients such as VISA, MasterCard, MARS, Samsung, and Stellantis (Jeep, RAM, FIAT, Citroen, and Peugeot). Pedro's expertise in brand positioning and strategy has consistently delivered impactful, data-driven campaigns that engage audiences and elevate brand presence. Recognized for his unique contributions to the field, he was awarded an extraordinary abilities green card, underscoring his influence in the industry.
Silvia Pease
Associate Professor of Practice at FIUSilvia Pease is a graphic designer and professor at Florida International University. She has founded international design studios and worked on diverse projects including Guggenheim Partners, American Express Latinoamérica, and Mercedes Benz Fashion Show. Her research focuses on how visual design represents interests and shapes identities within political, economic, and social contexts. She has made significant contributions to various books, scholarly publications, and academic practices.
Albena Petrus (PRESENTER)
President One Club Miami/Professor at FIUAlbena is a data-driven, multicultural creative director who fosters creative excellence in the advertising and design industries. She has worked with global corporations and start-ups across diverse cultures. Albena also shares her expertise as a faculty member at Florida International University's School of Communication, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. As the founder of Portfolio Maven, she offers invaluable guidance to aspiring creatives. She has served as the president of The One Club Miami since its creation in 2018.
LUIS FELIPE RIOS
Senior Copywriter at The CommunityLuis Felipe Rios is currently a copywriter at the community working with clients like Captain Morgan, Smirnoff, Mondelez and others. Prior to the community, Luis worked at JWT and VMLY&R. His work has been recognized by international festivals including Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, ANDY Awards, One Show, and ADC, among others. Luis studied communications science at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Peru) and digital creativity and strategy at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). He is currently based in Miami and outside of work, he enjoys playing basketball, running, and going out with his Nikon camera to photograph the streets.
Benji Shaw
Copywriter and associate creative director at EdelmanBenji enjoys coming up with big ideas, writing witty and engaging copy, and creating work that generates press. His experience spans a vast range of brand categories and media formats, bringing successful, award-winning work to life for everything from home decor to cannabis.
Juliana Tonussi
Operations Director at MADJuliana has nearly two decades of experience in the advertising industry, specializing in Project Management, Account Management and Operations. Throughout her career, she has worked in top Brazilian agencies, serving prominent brands such as Visa, Itaú, C&A, Natura, Santander, and Claro Brasil. Since 2021, Juliana has been focused on the North American market, working at Mad, an independent agency based in Miami, where she has since expanded her role to include leadership in HR.
David Verjano
Founder of Verjano [A Creative Studio]David is the Founder & Chief Creative Nerd at Verjano [A Creative Studio], where he channels his passion for Miami's creative culture into impactful branding and design. Since 2013, he has worked with global spirits brands like Seedlip, Licor 43, and Howler Head Whiskey, as well as regional favorites like Diced, Vicky Bakery, and Pincho. Specializing in crafting brand identities, designing engaging web experiences, and orchestrating innovative marketing campaigns, David brings a unique blend of creativity and strategic thinking to every project. He also hosts CreativeMornings Miami and actively connects with local creatives, fostering a vibrant network of talent.
