Off Basel Opening Night

Off Basel Opening Night

By Marco Caridad on Dec 03, 2019

The OFF | BASEL project was created by Art | Design| Gallery to allow a selected number of international artists to live, experience, and feel the atmosphere of the most important art period in Miami: MIAMI ART WEEK. However, instead of one week, we built out a two-month exhibition (Dec 2, 2019 - Mar 2, 2020) outside the circuit bringing freedom to the artists, without rules, and giving more exposure to their work.

The curator of the Latin American Art Pavilion, Anaibis Yero was the responsible for assembling artworks of the artists Alemao, Andreas Franke, Gaia Dakini, Dmitry Zhitov, Fabio Polesi, Patricia Lopes, Gustavo Muci, Flavia, Lima, Juzé, Rosy Lofer, Gustazara Monteiro, Dawn Kelmenson, Luca Bornoffi, Suzy Fukushima, Gui Calli, Marcela Solano, Malu Moleira, Sergio Free, Tiago Magro, Ricardo Casado, Pierre Britt, Teo Beceiro and, myself, Marco Caridad. Yero was able to display a humanitarian evolution that began figurative and colorful but faces an abstract and optimistic ending.

The One Club for Creativity Miami sponsored the opening day reception creating an outdoor installation called “Happiness" inspired by Hispanic upbringings. “They say that heaven and hell are not places but states of mind…The vehicle to express it eloquently? Childhood. Suddenly it is the process of intellectual and emotional deconstruction,” mentioned Mantico, the artist behind the artistic landscape.

The installation “Happiness” invited the public to paint on t-shirts and hang them on a clothesline for display. Artists Gustavo Fernandez, Dalia Berlin, and Rafael Vera left their mark by painting live. We will keep you posted where to buy these exclusive One Club T-shirts.
