Tear of joy / Kirloskar Brothers Limited
Submitted By Sanju Ayyar
Description
The submission, titled \'tear of joy\' opens on a drought-prone, parched land. As camera pulls back, it is revealed that the parched land is actually a photograph held by an African farmer, who's standing in a luxuriant field. In fact, it is the same parched land that has turned green and fertile. The African farmer feels ecstatic about it and a tear of joy rolls down his eye.
The VO and super: Kirloskar Pumps go much beyond bringing water.
Film ends with the Kirloskar Logo and baseline on screen: Kirloskar. Enriching Lives.
Objective
Kirloskar Brothers Limited have been partnering many African nations and governments in bringing about economic change by providing Pumps and Pumping technology for decades. The commercial was done to showcase how Kirloskar Pumps have brought about that economic change in many countries in Africa, by bringing water to drought-prone, parched regions and converted them into green belts. In short, to demonstrate how Kirloskar Pumps are a harbinger of prosperity and how they are instrumental in enriching the lives of millions of Africans.
Technical Challenge
The film was for African markets, and tight budgets virtually made it impossible to consider a shoot in Africa. So it was imperative that the location and set resembles Africa in terms of the fields, the crops, the landscape etc. Even the costume was zeroed in after a lot of research. All this required a sincere production effort, which ultimately paid off.
Secondly, since the film was shot during monsoon time, getting to shoot the parched land in India was ruled out. So, the team had to work on a stock TP of the parched land and and match the reference points with the actual location to establish the sameness in geography.
