Microwaves Ruin Everything / Moe's Southwest Grill
Submitted By Brandon Friedman
Description
Using a Weisscam at 500-2,000 frames per second, we captured tons of highly volatile items to promote one aspect of Moe's food mission. We wanted to create something that was simple, engaging and sharable that would strike a chord with males while keeping inline with our brand’s edginess. Three microwaves and tons of explosions later, our concept came to fruition.
Objective
The point of our video was to educate males about Moe’s food mission, which revolves around freshly prepared ingredients and the fact we don’t use microwaves like some others in the category.
Technical Challenge
One of the challenges was capturing the explosions as clearly as possible without endangering the pricey Weisscam. Fortunately, we had a great colorist who was able to bring everything to life even more. And of course, safety was a huge concern. We wore respirators and ski goggles throughout. Pat Molnar, the director, was the bold one who pushed the start button on the microwave and sprinted away as if someone had just thrown a grenade.
