People think about electricity on two occasions: when they pay their monthly bill and when the power goes out. That doesn’t leave much room for an energy company to connect in a meaningful way. To help Duke Energy—the nation’s largest utility—show customers the value of reliability, Raleigh agency Capstrat created a campaign embracing the forgettable role power plays in our lives. Brought to life by director Theresa Wingert, each spot begins with a quick flip of a switch before diving into a basketball game, a family reunion, a first day on the job. In the process, Duke shows customers that reliability is the permission to think about life, not the power behind it.
