CHALLENGE ::
Fear and misinformation were causing vaccine hesitancy among Boulder’s Hispanic community. But traditional PSA weren’t reaching, or building trust among, this audience.
OPPORTUNITY ::
Give members of this community an opportunity to hear from friends and neighbors who shared the same concerns or lost someone, with the hope that their real voices and stories help them overcome their reluctance.
CONCEPT ::
Create a public art installation called “Lo Siento” a listening and recording booth, where anyone could pick up the receiver and hear, or share, a story from someone in the community who was impacted by vaccine hesitancy. Over 200 raw stories, in Spanish and English, were collected and shared about the reality of living through the pandemic. Using customized vintage phone booths in community spaces, familiar objects were turned into portals of shared experience that helped establish trust through authenticity.
