About the Work

The IMPOSSIBLE WALL is a human-scale, interactive tennis game, designed to engage digitally native youth who view tennis as a sport for ?gold people?h. The intention was to give them the opportunity to experience, physically and emotionally, the passion of tennis.
The objective of the game is simple: Crush as many enemy characters projected on a wall display within a set time limit. Participants compete for the top score, using adidas products and gear. High-speed infrared cameras and sound collecting microphones detect ball position and interactively synchronize with the game displayed on a wall via projector.
The IMPOSSIBLE WALL has re-introduced tennis to a resistant audience via a completely new approach, succeeding in capturing the hearts of many. Not only was significant awareness created for adidas-Tennis, but also the entire Japanese tennis category enjoyed rare, and refreshing, attention. Future plans for the IMPOSSIBLE WALL include taking it on the road across Japan, then possibly to tennis tournament venues around the world, such as the French Open and Wimbledon.
