Puppy Mills / Wisconsin Humane Society

Submitted By Curtis Smith

Description

To put an end to puppy mills in the state of Wisconsin.

Objective

Puppy mills are draconian institutions of appalling conditions where female dogs are kept in captivity and forced to breed so that the owners can then sell their offspring to unwitting pet stores and individuals. At the end of the dogs' reproductive lives, they are killed to make way for younger females. It's a vicious cycle that needs to be stopped. This horrific practice takes place across America, with Wisconsin being a particularly bad state for it.

Technical Challenge

During a stealth photo shoot at an actual puppy mill, the owner broke the camera and ran us off the property. Fortunately, we were able to get documentary images from the Wisconsin Humane Society.
