The Scroll / Visit North Carolina
Submitted By Ellen Huffman
Description
What if your vacation must-do list was hundreds of miles long and traveled across the entire state? That’s exactly what happens to this couple when they plan a vacation in North Carolina. Follow the beautiful and intriguing journey of “The Scroll” from Grandfather Mountain’s spectacular peak to the sands of the Crystal Coast and everywhere in between.
Objective
With so many unique experiences and unforgettable places to visit, North Carolina is a place where you can’t help but Vacation Big. Besides increasing traffic to the state and to VisitNC.com, we were also charged with showcasing our three distinct regions (mountains, piedmont and coast) in a unique and beautiful way.
Technical Challenge
North Carolina is a vast state with nearly limitless shooting possibilities. Shot entirely on location in 6 different settings throughout the state, we had a modest 5 day shoot schedule. Unfortunately, 2 of those days were travel days. Needless to say it was a sprint from the start, trekking miles on foot to shoot a picturesque waterfall, dodging frost in the mountains and nearly getting rained out in multiple locations.
And that’s before we added our scroll. Shot practically in a couple of scenes, the scroll is almost entirely CGI. We worked hard to ensure it looked as real as possible as it traveled from the mountains to the coast.
