Ghajn Educational Centre in Malta educates children 8 to 10 y.o. on environmental issues. Their interactive screen Games are composed of
A. animated intro videos that explain the fundamental concepts and
B. the game per se, based on the characters of the intro video.
In the course for Renewable Energy Sources, the challenge was to convey rather complex info without boring the children.

In order to educate the children on Renewable Energy Sources, we created a game that aspires to introduce rather complex and abstract concepts to an audience notorious for their short attention span.

A complete 3D world with natural textures, humor, and a character design approach that kids are familiar with -emerging from the cartoon and gaming universe- is our way to familiarize them with the technology and mentality that is going to assure both their future and the one for our planet.

We established a 3D universe where spatial and lighting realism coexist with many surrealistic conventions, in order to convey complex & abstract concepts in a fun way.
We used procedural textures with a natural feel to help kids understand that these technologies are not separated from our everyday life, but have a true and practical impact on it.
For the same reason, we implemented rather realistic moving and reacting patterns to cartoonish elements, augmenting the connection to reality.
