About the Work
Introducing a collection of bottles turning air pollution into art. To get Johnnie Walker on the lips of the next generation, we created the Keep Walking City Collection. Inspired by the insight that 64% of Gen Z identify with their city over their nation, we worked with AIR-INK, a black pigment made from capturing carbon pollution and local artists from Madrid, Warsaw and Bangkok to create a range of limited edition bottles. Turning outsider-art into a force for good, each black and white ceramic bottle is a collectible canvas that reflects local culture and inspires people to keep their cities bursting with fresh air and creativity.
We curated a group of artists who had different styles and different levels of fame, but all connected through their genuine love and influence of the cities they come from. Each design reflects their inimitable creative style and passion for their home city. Iconic white ceramic bottles and black ink led to a distinct black and white identity that stood out with its gritty but premium aesthetic, connected the disparate styles of our artists and disrupted the category with a bottle that looks more like a sneaker than a liquid. The use of AIR-INK challenges people to consider the future of global cities, as well as setting new standards in imagining how products of tomorrow can be made by using environmental carbon.
The first round of releases saw three markets - Warsaw, Madrid and Bangkok launching with local campaigns that focus on fame and disruption, selling a limited run of 2500 bottles supported with activations such as wall murals, BTS content and pop-up galleries.
