As the Connected Places Strategy Director, Richard Tyson leads a new practice focused on the design of connected and intelligent places with Gensler. Connected places help clients design environments that better learn and continuously adapt through the application of advanced technology, data, and machine intelligence. The Connected Places Group conducts strategy, applied research, and intelligent service design to advance performance and experience throughout the built environment.

Prior to joining Gensler, Richard has led innovation consulting for Fortune 500 companies, governments, and NGOs at the intersection of design, strategy, and technology to create material transformations of business systems, employee experiences, and customer/community relationships. Notable projects include developing vision and strategy for the future of intelligent wealth management, experience-driven digital strategy for Under Armour, and helping establish UN OCHA’s Humanitarian Data and Exchange (HDX) and Center for Humanitarian Data.
