Description

Geste is a versatile typeface that supports both Arabic and Latin scripts. It is specifically created for editorial design purposes and offers a range of styles. In the Arabic script, Geste introduces a new secondary style inspired by fast calligraphy and handwriting in the eastern Arabic script region, including styles like Shekasteh Nastaliq. The type family includes serif and sans styles in Latin, with variations in weight.
The design of Geste is influenced by French and Dutch typefaces, blending them with curvature treatments from the Middle Eastern writing culture. This results in a typeface with generous curves and proportions that exude an elegant appearance. Despite its graceful look, Geste maintains sharp, precise cuts, giving it a contemporary feel. The typeface achieves harmony between the Latin sans and serif styles and their Arabic counterparts, not by imitating the forms but by respecting the cultural origins of each script.
